Farewell 2011

As 2011 draws to a close it’s usually time to reflect on the year gone by and to consider the year approaching. We’ve been providing messaging solutions since the nineties and our platform has continually grown in size, strength and capacity. 2011 was no different and saw a major revamp of our DiaryBook service, aimed specifically at managing appointment reminders, which is used in areas such as private dental and GP practices to public hospitals in both the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Growth in popularity with the schools texting has been phenomenal and we have plans of launching a new-improved dedicated service to the education sector early in the new year. Many new improvements were also made in opt-out procedures for fax and text marketing strengthening our and your compliance with data protection laws.

We have other additions to our service planned in 2012: ExcelSend, an application for sending text messages using data from a spreadsheet, SQLSend, a similar application but with the ability of querying multiple types of SQL sources, and a reseller platform for all our text messaging services.

We love developing, providing and supporting services for you and look forward to continuing to do so in the New Year. We would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all a happy and peaceful holiday and a prosperous 2012.

See you then!

Advanced Message Notifications

The advanced notification options for IFLOW users is a reasonably recent addition to the feature list. Understanding how it works should give you an insight as to how powerful a tool the messaging service is and the wide range of applications it can be put to use.

First of all, where is it?

The options under discussion can be found in the USER LIST screen. Go to the ACCOUNTS menu and choose USERS / USER LIST. When you double click a user to open their profile click on the MESSAGE NOTIFICATIONS tab. You should see a screen similar to the following.

The Irish Fada

Fadas and Gaelic Text Messages

Many schools in the Republic of Ireland have the requirement to use fadas in the text messages that they send whether because the text itself is in Gaelic or the name of the school or recipient contains fadas.

A normal (ASCII) text message has a limit of 160 characters per message. However if the message contains a single fada the whole limit is reduced to 70 characters. Not wanting to get too technical about it, it is because in order to deliver sínte fada, the mobile operators need to use a larger character set called UNICODE.
